Why I travel

I'm really passionate about food, people, cultures, learning, observing, reflecting and what does that all culminate in? Travel. I love the elegant way Pico Iyer puts it: "We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again - to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more." 

For me, there is something magical about being in a place where I can be fully immersed in the present. Where beliefs are challenged and I am free to create and re-create. Traveling heightens my awareness to places and issues beyond my ordinary sphere of contact, and in doing so, reveals deeper thoughts and hidden inward passages. The learning and discovery in all senses is amazing, and what continues to excite me. And while I'm at that, I try to seek out food that's worth the calories and flavors that tantalizes the taste buds.

With this blog, I hope that I can share my journey with others, and to keep them the memories fresh for myself - for travel is more than the seeing of sights. It broadens my perspectives, shapes my life and that's just plane truth. :)
